1) Lee Canyon

Lee Canyon is located in the southern part of the state, about an hour from downtown Las Vegas. However, you don’t want to write it off for not having any winter activities. This year-round outdoor adventure has so much to offer during the winter months. From skiing to snowshoeing you’re going to find it. All while being close to home.

2) Mount Charleston

Another area not far from Las Vegas is Mount Charleston. If you want to spend some time out in the snow, then this is the place for you. Here you can snowshoe, sled, and even catch a glimpse or two of the winter wildlife. However, it is important to note, that with the high influx of traffic during the weekends, you’ll want to make sure you have reservations to get top priority.

3) Gold Strike Hot Springs

Located near Boulder City, Gold Strike Hot Springs is one of the more strenuous places to get to on our list today. To reach the hot springs, a bit of scrambling and navigating fixed ropes that weave in and out of large boulders is required. However, if you’re up for the challenge, we highly recommend the experience. Especially considering the amazing hot springs and relaxation at the end.

4) Cathedral Gorge State Park

Cathedral Gorge State Park is a long, narrow valley in southeastern Nevada. The beauty of the park comes from layers of ash being deposited in layers hundreds of feet thick. These days you can explore the walking trails to see the cave-like formations and cathedral-like spires. We recommend planning a weekend trip, to enjoy some camping.

5) Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is the perfect skiing weekend getaway. Located on the California-Nevada border, the lake offers stunning views. With several resorts to choose from, you are certain to have a stunning adventure. Even if you aren’t up for only skiing, there is still something for you to do. Check out the Heavenly Village Outdoor Ice Skating Rink. Or spend the day at the spa.

While it can be difficult to pick the right place for a weekend getaway, we know these are a few that will never lead you astray. What are your favorite places to getaway during the winter? Maybe we’ve even mentioned it today. Let us know in the comments.
